Travel packs were born from traveller's frustrations of traditional top loading rucksacks and their downfalls when it comes to certain types of travel. Traditional rucksacks are designed for hiking and trekking and so are aimed at creating a bag that it comfortable and stable to carry. In contrast travel packs are aimed at being easy to access, more security aware, more robust for international travel and have additional features to assist once in your destination.
There are 3 key requirements for bags to be classed as a 'travel pack':
1) The main compartment must be side opening or zip 3/4 of the way around the bag so its easier to access all your gear at once
2) The back system must have a panel that covers it to protect during flights and transit
3) There must be a removable daypack or the facility to piggyback a daypack onto the main bag
Some of the newest bags available have integrated a travel pack with a wheeled suitcase. These can be viewed in our
